Our previous understanding of how cave formations are formed has been explained by the type of rock and the water paths found in caves. New studies under Hazel Barton show that while this is the case, there are many more implications as to how these formations came to be, such as microorganisms that feed on certain minerals and substances found in the rock, encouraging water to flow in the grooves caused by microbial life.
